Alison Hammond has paid tribute to a mother who has died of terminal breast cancer, after she moved This Morning viewers to tears by using a cash prize she won on the show to throw her own wake. Heather Bone, 41, from West Sussex, won a £1,000 prize after winning a competition on the ITV show in June and revealed to host Alison that she had just three months left to live at the time.

She appeared on This Morning three months later in August, where she revealed to hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford she had used the money to plan her own wake.

Heather’s son, Lewis, announced his mother’s death on her Instagram page today, and This Morning presenter Alison Hammond led the tributes, saying Heather is now “on her next journey”.

“On behalf of Mum, she was so grateful for the support everyone gave us the past year as it kept her positive.

“After suffering for so long she deserves a rest. Sleep tight, Mum,” he added.

“God bless Heather on her next journey now, I’m so honoured to have met her. RIP Heather,” Alison wrote.

“I am so sorry for your loss … your mum captured my heart the day she won on this morning … she was so happy and smiley even though she was going through the scariest fight of her life,” added Rebecca.k.homeinteriors

While Lisa40spence wrote: “Aww no. God bless her. RIP Heather. Love to you all xx.”

And Cx_xxdxx_xx commented: “So sorry for your loss. What a woman xx.”

Brave Heather was surprised by Alison for the Dosh On Your Doorstep competition before she told the This Morning host about her breast cancer battle and plan to hold a farewell party to say goodbye to her loved ones.

Emotional viewers at home were left touched by her heartbreaking story and bravery, hailing her as an inspiration.

After the presenter stunned Heather with her appearance at her home, the mum then opened up about her tragic diagnosis and how she planned to live life to the fullest before she died.

She told Alison: “I got diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019, I then got the all-clear just before my 40th birthday, I thought things were getting back to normal, I then got told I had brain mets, so now I am getting myself organised.

“I have been told I’ve got three months to live, so I am going to have a, ‘Wake me up before I go, go’ party, a party before my passing.”

A concerned Alison then asked: “How do you continue to be upbeat for your sons and your husband?”

Heather replied: “Because there is no point moping, it is what it is.

“If I mope it won’t help my family, my husband or my children. So I am in auto-mode at the moment.”

She also admitted to being a huge fan of Craig David who sent her a special video message.

In addition, This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield revealed they were gifting Heather an extra £1,000.

It was later revealed that Heather had gained more than 10,000 additional Instagram followers since her appearance on the show.

Invited on This Morning with Eamonn and Ruth in August, Heather revealed she had had her wake, and that her health kept on deteriorating.

The mum was hailed an “inspiration” after telling the hosts that her advice for viewers is that “life is too short”.
