Martha Stewart is the queen of all things home, garden, and entertaining. Another thing the hostess with the mostest seems to be good at: Her skincare routine. While Martha may be nearing 80 (yes, really), you’d never know it by her radiant complexion. But her secret to not looking her age seems to be a mentality. In December of last year she told WSJ, “I don’t pay any attention to age at all…I have a very strong constitution and I just don’t think about it.”
And though she may not have written a book on her anti-aging routine (even though she has 97 under her belt), she has shared some of her tips over the years. One thing that she credits her good skin and hair to is her daily green juice, which she shared in a recent “What I Eat in a Day” video for Harper’s Bazaar. (cucumbers, parsley, mint, ginger, orange, celery, pineapple, btw). “My green juice is really special to me. I think it’s the secret of good skin, it’s the secret of good, healthy hair,” she shared. Not into juicing? Right this way for some other things she does to keep her glow going.
She never goes to sleep with her makeup on.
In a recent YouTube video with friend and makeup artist, Gucci Westman, Martha shared “the one thing I insist on is s clean face.” She continued on to say that some of her friends won’t wash their face for four days and she just doesn’t understand. She must wash her makeup off every night.
She washes her face with baby oil.
When asked by Gucci what she uses to cleanse her face, Martha responds saying, “You’ll think I’m so stupid but, if I have a lot of makeup on like from a TV show or something, I use baby oil. Whatever kind comes in the little jar.” After Gucci all but turned her nose up at that, Martha went on to say, “I also like simple things like Mario Badescu. I’ve been going to them since Mr. Badescu himself was alive.”
She puts on a face mask every morning.
“I wake up really early because I have two dogs that have to go outside so I put a mask on. I use any kind of mask I have lying around… collagen, CBD,” says Martha. She told Gucci that she generally gets up around five, puts on the mask, and leaves it on for an hour.
She lives a clean lifestyle.
Along with the green juice mentioned above, Martha also credits her clean lifestyle, listing off several things she attributes including “Eating well. I don’t drink very much, and I don’t smoke ever… except secondary smoke.”
She wears sunblock every day.
“I stay out of the sun. I wear sunblock every single day—I mix it with my foundation or whatever I’m putting on,” says Martha.
She doesn’t do too many treatments.
While Martha shared with Gucci that she’s never had a peel in her life, she told WSJ that she indulges in injectables twice a year and that her makeup artist calls it sprinkles. She went on to explain, “I love skincare, I love technology, lasers—I love all those things that will help you look better. It’s not about looking younger, it’s about looking better, and the better you look the younger you look.” She shuts down the facelift rumors: “People are always saying that I had a facelift, like, ‘Oh, Martha just had surgery.’ I have never had surgery.”
