The two women were at a wedding at the time, and the mother of the baby “tried not to scream” when she saw her friend nursing her ten-month-old in public.
Speaking about the situation on Reddit, the mum feels as if her friend “violated her daughter”.
“I have a daughter of ten months. Me and my best friend have always been super close, and she helped a lot during my pregnancy and after childbirth,” the woman explained.
“So it always came naturally to me to ask her for help, till she became some kind of nanny for my daughter when needed. She’s always been very eager and happy to help since she has no children of her own.”
The mum went on to reveal they were “at a mutual friend’s wedding” and she was “holding [her] daughter for quite some time as she hates strollers”.
“My best friend came to me and offered to take her for a while so that I could take a break and go chat with some friends. I agreed and wholeheartedly thanked her,” she added.
After 20 minutes, the mum returned only to find her baby and friend weren’t where she left them. “Finally, after another ten minutes [of searching], I manage to find her,” the woman said.
But upon reaching her friend and baby, she noticed she was breastfeeding her child.
The mum admitted she “tried not to scream” at the situation, but insisted she needed to speak with her friend immediately.
The mother questioned her friend, and “she looked at me [the mother] in disbelief”.

“She replied that she understood that it [breastfeeding] was the best way to calm my daughter and that there was nothing wrong about it.”
The mother was “shocked” but the conversation was interrupted as all guests were asked to return inside for the cutting of the wedding cake.
Unfortunately, the conversation never resumed, but the mother was due to meet her friend and asked other Reddit users for their advice.
“Honestly, I’m so f****** mad. Wtf?????? Why did she have to do it? I don’t even f****** know what to tell her without raging at her,” she remarked.
“It’s been nearly a day and this thought never left my mind not even for a second. How could she say that ‘there’s was nothing wrong with it’? I feel like she violated my daughter, and she gave literally zero f*** about it.”

It turns out the friend had secretly breastfed the baby in the past, and the mother returned to Reddit with an update.
She said: “She tried everything in the past and nothing worked except for her breasts, which were the only things that calmed her down, so she just did what she always had done. I literally couldn’t believe it.
“I asked her what was wrong with her for doing such a thing behind my back and why the f*** among all things she thought that she could dry nurse my daughter.”
The woman defended her actions and said “she was just doing what she thought was best for the baby” and said she “wasn’t dry nursing” the baby because “she started to lactate a little” and this would allow the mother to “leave breastfeeding to her”.
Since the meeting, the concerned mum blocked her friend and threatened her to never contact her again.
