In case you missed it, the royal family were spotted attending the annual Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey on Saturday December 9, and if there’s one thing everyone can agree on, it's that Kate Middleton’s outfit was incredible.
The Princess of Wales wowed in a head to toe all-white ensemble, with a pair of Holland and Cooper High Waisted Straight Trousers, £299 here, and an ivory coloured top with white accessories, including a Strathberry Mosaic Nano, £395 here, in shade Vanilla to complete the look.
However, never one to shy away from a completely monochromatic moment, the pièce de résistance of her entire outfit was a gorgeous white overcoat that not only helped keep the chill at bay but also added an extra layer of chicness to the look.
The coat in question was confirmed by Kensington to be from Saville Row designer Chris Kerr, who typically doesn’t make womenswear but seems to have made an exception for the Princess, creating a crisp white tailored midi length coat for the occasion.
Although you can’t get your hands on Kate’s exact coat, that hasn’t stopped shoppers eagerly hunting for their own version of the outerwear, with searches for 'long white coats' skyrocketing by a massive 1,331% after she was photographed at the carol service.
There is undoubtedly plenty to choose from at the moment, but we think we’ve found the perfect alternative that’s chic, cosy – and affordable.
H&M’s Tie Belt Coat was originally priced at £45.99, but has since been slashed in the pre-Christmas sale to just£38 here, making it an absolute steal if you’re looking to replicate Kate’s winter whites outfit.
The coat falls to mid-calf with a straight cut hem and slits at the side, and is made from a woven fabric that has notched lapels and gently dropped shoulders which give it a relaxed, menswear-inspired look.
To help create shape, it has a detachable tie belt at the waist, and its long sleeves and discreet pockets make sure its practical to wear too. However, it seems we’re not alone in thinking the H&M Tie Belt Coat, £38 here, is the perfect lookalike to the Princess of Wales’, as it’s currently sold out in all sizes except an XS.
Don’t worry, though, because we’ve found another similar coat that looks almost identical to Kate’s from New Look, with the Double Breasted Textured Longline Coat In Cream, £69.99 here, which is made from a luxe-looking textured woven fabric, with large lapels and a straight cut that looks timeless, chic, and way more expensive than its £70 price tag.
Now, just make sure you don’t spill anything…
