Experts have analysed which TikTok home trends are going to blow this year – from the biggest paint colours to the must-have bathroom designs.

The study looked at data to find out which interior trends users in the UK are searching for online to make changes to their own homes.

The first thing to note is that pink and green are going to be the hottest interior colours this year.

Looking for paint inspiration? According to the data, pink is the colour to shakeup your bathroom and kitchens, while a subtle green is the go-to for living rooms and hallways.

Beyond this vibrant colour palette, the study also revealed the hottest home improvement trends for all over your house. So if you fancy a DIY task this year, take a look at this list:

Home offices

In first place with the most TikTok hashtags (3,800,017,400) is the rise in home offices.

Covid has changed the working life of billions around the world, and more and more of us have had to change up rooms to meet our working from home needs. It looks like this trend is set to continue.

From tiny closet-conversions, to spacious second bedrooms transformed into a work space – there are plenty of ways you can work with what you’ve got to make your WFH setup more appealing and sustainable.

Home gyms

Following closely behind is the home gym trend with 3,100,985,000 hashtags on TikTok.

With gyms closed for long periods people have taken to creating a space to keep active within their own home.

Space-saving is a big part of this trend, too. Particularly if you are looking to invest in some substantial weights to really up your home fitness game.

The mid-century modern trend

In third place is the mid-century modern trend with 66,900,000 TikTok hashtags.

After a chaotic year, it’s no wonder this simple form with an emphasis on functionality is bang on trend. 

This trend, which became popular in the 1950s, focuses on clean lines, an array of textures and a timeless décor. Think copper statements and bold vintage lighting.

Wellness at home

Securing the final top spot is the wellness at home trend, with a total of 978,600 hashtags.

With the need for self-care on the rise, this interior trend has made the top 10 spot as Brits across the country install spas and steam showers to de-stress at home.

‘If you are looking to refurbish and renovate this year, make sure you have a clear plan set in mind as it can be a very daunting task,’ says a spokesperson from GoCompare.

‘Look at the colours and concepts you want to include and budget for these costs. Check that your buildings and contents insurance will cover you for any extensive DIY projects before you carry out any work.

‘Remember everything you see on social media is the highlights – so the length and practicality of a job may seem easier than it is. Properly research any work you want to undertake to understand the magnitude of the job and ensure you’re well prepared.
