For Hamptonites, it seems, the vaccine is just an exciting new opportunity to turn their noses up at people.
Page Six is told that soon-to-open Buddha Lounge in Southampton will be strictly for the beautiful — and inoculated — people.
In fact, sources tells us it will boast a sign at the door saying, “No vax — You’re axed.”
We’re told guests will have to show a vaccination card at the door before being allowed in.
So, if you’re not ready to get the shot — just add it to the long list of reasons you won’t be able to get into the trendy spots out East this summer.
Somewhat ironically, Page Six reported last summer that restaurateur Zach Erdem — who owns Buddha Lounge — lost liquor licenses at two of his places in part for breaking COVID safety protocols.
Both his 75 Main and Blu Mar spots in Southampton were written up for not enforcing social distancing, and for selling liquor to underage kids. (So let’s hope they’re better at checking vaccine cards than ID cards.)
In both instances Erdem fired the staff responsible and was soon reunited with his liquor licenses.
According to the SLA, its investigators and local cops inspected the venue on a Saturday night and found customers “ignoring social distancing, with most not wearing facial coverings” and “two bartenders and three servers without facial coverings.”
It said that investigators returned later in the evening and found, “multiple employees and patrons standing, mingling and drinking around the bar without facial coverings, with several patrons from nearby tables wandering up to the bar to mingle and consume shots — in violation of the Governor’s Executive Order prohibiting walk-up bar service.”
It added that, “an 18-year-old underage agent was able to purchase alcohol on two separate occasions without being asked for identification.”
Buddha Lounge is due to open Memorial Day weekend.
