A mum has divided opinion after revealing she has already started saving up for Christmas 2023 – two weeks before this year’s festivities.
Kathryn Hibberd, 29, showed off a money tin in a video she posted on TikTok, saying it was ‘good for people who struggle to save’.
Many of her followers applauded her thriftiness and said they would copy the simple, old-fashioned trick is using a piggy bank.

In one of her videos, which has racked up over 230,000 views, she puts a £10 note into a money box which is labelled ‘Christmas 2023’.
‘Christmas 2023 saving has begun!’ she captions the video.
‘This year I saved £195, which I know doesn’t seem a lot but I am the worst with saving money so this is pretty good for me.’
One of her followers said that while it was a ‘good idea’, they would be left wanting to ‘raid it when [I] fancy a takeaway’.
The content creator responded that she had been tempted on a number of occasions to crack open the money pot but had had no luck.

She told her followers that the piggy bank, decorated with pound notes, is from B&M.
Other commenters were sceptical, saying they would want to ‘raid it within two days’.
Another commenter recommended her own money-saving technique, saying she always gives £50 a month to her mum who ‘puts it in an envelope in her house and I get it in December’.
Fans of the idea said they were going to take a leaf out of Kathryn’s book.

Anna-Marie said: ‘I’ve started one for next year too! I’m horrendous at saving for Christmas’.
Another person inspired by the video wrote: ‘I always say I am going to save for next year but never do it but I am def trying for next year and if its only notes then I won’t get them out.’
User Michelle Duffy wrote: ‘Saved £100 so far so got a tin so I wouldn’t be tempted to spend’.
