Michelle Kwan is officially a mom!
The two-time Olympic medalist revealed via Instagram on Wednesday that she has given birth to her first child, a baby girl named Kalista Belle Kwan.
“I’m overjoyed and tears of happiness are streaming down my face … I’ve always wanted to be a mom and, to me, she’s a perfect miracle,” Kwan, 41, gushed in the caption.
“I had a hard time picturing what she might look like yet it seems like she’s been in my life forever. This has been a challenging journey to motherhood (not to mention a very long labor!!!) and I’m glad I never gave up.”
The former figure skater went on to thank everyone who supported her throughout her pregnancy journey, including friends, family, doctors and nurses.
Kwan also explained that she’s “full of surprises” and tends to keep her personal life private.
“I’ve wanted to share this happy news for many months but each milestone seemed to be exciting and daunting at the same time,” she shared. “Each step of the way, I knew that there was still more time needed until I could hold her in my arms.”
She continued, “Also, I want to send my best to all the mom’s out there (as we all know, moms rule the world!). And, I wish anyone trying to conceive in any which way (ivf, iui, surrogacy, adoption and naturally) all the success and love. You’re not alone on this path and I’m pulling for you ??.”
Shortly after Kwan’s post went live, her celebrity friends took to the comments section to congratulate her and send well wishes.
“So thrilled for her and for you. What an incredible mom you will be. Cant wait to meet her !!!” wrote fashion designer Vera Wang, with actress Michelle Trachtenberg adding, “Champion mama! What a wonderful gift, congrats my friend ! ?⛸.”
“Queer Eye” star Jonathan Van Ness also chimed in, commenting, “She is so cute I can not even ? So happy for you queen omgoshhh are we all cryin??❤️❤️❤️”
Kwan did not reveal the baby’s father. She married Coast Guard Lieutenant Clay Pell in 2013. The two filed for divorce in 2017, both citing irreconcilable differences.
A rep for Kwan did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
