Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are the most popular couple in the Royal Family, according to a new study. The royal couple tied the knot back in 2018 in St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. They later stepped back as working royals in January 2020 and relocated to the USA in March that year.
They have two children, Archie, two, and eight-month-old baby Lilibet.
But what makes Harry and Meghan the most popular royal couple still after two years?
From scandalous tales of couples in the palace, to rumours of trouble in paradise, the royal couples have been everywhere over the past 12 months.
Their dramas have certainly caused some divisive opinions amongst the public.
But only one couple can come out on top as the most popular duo in the family.
In a new study, Pretty Little Thing have put together a list of the most iconic, most high-flying, and most in love power couples of the year to produce the Celeb Power Couple Report of 2022.
They looked at couples’ combined social following, social engagement, Google search numbers, media coverage and combined net worth to determine which couples officially reign over the others.
When it comes to the Royal Family, the results are staggering.
In the report, Pretty Little Thing analysed global search data to reveal which royal couples are the most popular duos that everyone wants the latest gossip on.
Labelling the study a “royal battle”, a spokesperson for Pretty Little Thing told Express.co.uk: “Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have out-ranked Prince William and Kate Middleton in the royal battle and are officially the most-searched-for and sought-after couple of 2022.”
A whopping 18,100 people each month alone search for the couple to check what they are up to.
This is most likely due to their interview appearances and fewer public outings, making the public more interested in what they are up to.
William and Kate are in second place with 14,800 searches clearly proving the younger royal generation to be a popular one with the public.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are second-in-line to the throne after William’s father, Prince Charles.
According to this research, despite coming second overall, the Cambridges are the most popular royal couple still living in the UK.
In third place are Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.
The increase in popularity for this royal couple could easily have been boosted by the many appearances Charles makes in TV and film at the moment.
Camilla was recently granted the future title of Queen Consort by the Queen, perhaps a testament to her growing popularity recently.
Despite Princess Diana’s death, the Princess’ charm has left a mark, with Prince Charles and herself still being the fifth most-searched-for royal couple.
Diana was labelled the ‘People’s Princess’ due to her connection with people all over the world and her humanitarian endeavours.
