Energy bills in the UK are rising.

So to help Brits deal with the increasing costs, Martin Lewis has shared three tips.

The Money Saving Expert founder explained why hundreds will be added to bills as the price cap is set to rise to £1,971.

Taking to TikTok, the guru broke down his tricks into prepay users, direct debit users and how to claim a £150 council tax rebate.

He said: "Ofgem has confirmed you get the rate on the day you top up not when you use energy.

"Now if you max out your top up in March before the rate goes up, that's what you'll get even if you then use that energy in April."

He added: "You'll draw a line and tell the energy company, all this energy I've used should be at the cheap rate."

Martin also said those in bands A to D council tax will get a £150 rebate to help with energy costs.

The expert urged Brits to set up a direct debit as soon as possible with their local council to avoid any disappointment.

April is set to be the harshest month for tens of millions of Brits who are facing the biggest cost-of-living crisis in decades.

Energy bills, rail fares, National Insurance, Council Tax and inflation are all increasing.

Childcare help will be frozen and free Covid tests are set to be axed too.

From next month, a £12billion rise in NI will also hit working people as the Treasury looks to cut Covid backlogs in the NHS.

It could mean employees, employers and the self-employed will all pay 1.25p more in the pound for National Insurance from April.
