LaKeith Stanfield and Daniel Kaluuya are being pitted against each other off-screen as well.

“Judas and the Black Messiah” star Stanfield was flabbergasted after being nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar despite arguably playing the lead role in the acclaimed film.

When fans and pundits started questioning the supporting nod on Twitter, the actor responded via — what else? — his social media.

“I’m confused too but f – – k it lmao,” wrote the 29-year-old thespian in a now-deleted Instagram post, Indiewire reported. The “Knives Out” actor replaced the post with another humorous reaction to the Academy Award nod: “First time an actor with a face tattoo was nominated lmaooo.”

Now, both Stanfield and co-star Kaluuya are in the running for Best Supporting Actor, leading fans to wonder if “Judas and the Black Messiah” had a main actor at all.

Especially as Stanfield, who plays FBI informant Bill O’Neal opposite Kaluuya’s Black Panther leader Fred Hampton, was clearly the protagonist of the film.

Fortunately, while only one of the fine actors will walk away with Oscar gold, “Judas and the Black Messiah” has been nominated for Academy Awards in several other top categories, including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay and Best Cinematography. Plus, the movie is the first Best Picture nominee in the Oscars’ 93-year history to boast all black producers, Indiewire reported.
