Kanye West has settled a lawsuit with Walmart after accusing the company of selling a knockoff version of one of his most iconic shoe designs. The troubled rapper previously claimed that he could lose “hundreds of millions of dollars” after the retail giant began selling a shoe that was nearly identical to his Yeezy Foam Runners.
According to The Sun, papers filed in Los Angeles show that the Louis Vuitton Don and the retail giant have agreed to settle the suit earlier this year. Details about any monetary award for Ye haven’t been disclosed.
Following the agreement, Yeezy and his team have filed to dismiss the lawsuit.
The Father Stretch My Hands rapper had initially asked for an undisclosed amount of cash for damages. Ye also wanted the retailer to cover his legal fees and demanded that the fake Yeezy Foam Runners be removed from their website.
“Walmart is flagrantly trading off of West’s and the Yeezy brand’s popularity by offering for sale an imitation version of the Yeezy Foam Runner,” Ye’s legal team claimed in the original 66-page court filing. “Consumers are purchasing the imitation Yeezy Foam Runner footwear from Walmart on the mistaken belief that the shoes are associated with West and the Yeezy brand.”

The complaint went on to accuse Walmart of damaging Kanye’s brand to the tune of “hundreds of millions of dollars.”
“Yeezy is a multi-billion dollar brand, and the harm caused to Plaintiffs on account of Walmart’s illegal activities is, upon information and belief, potentially valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars,” the complaint noted.
This isn’t the only time the rapper has called out a company for ripping off his products. Earlier this month, Ye took to Instagram where he dragged Adidas for selling “fake” Yeezy shoes and requested that Kasper Rørsted — the company’s CEO — talk to him personally.
“To Kasper, I’m not standing for this blatant copying no more, to all sneaker culture, to every ball player, rapper, or even if you work at the store,” Kanye said. “These shoes represent the disrespect that people in power have to the talent. This shoe is a fake Yeezy made by Adidas themselves. I’m not talking to DC about this either Kasper come talk to me.”
