Yesterday saw former Coronation Street star Matthew Marsden announce the surprising news that he's become a father for the seventh time.
Taking to social media on Friday, the Cobbles alum – who played mechanic Chris Collins on the show between 1995 until 1998 – revealed that wife Nadine Metcalf had given birth to what is their second child together.
Matthew shared a heart-melting snap of his newborn with his 15,200 Instagram followers, showing the latest addition to his family swaddled in a sweet cotton blanket, adored with multicoloured footprints, and wearing a white hat on their head.
The former soap star – who left the show before exploring a pop music career, as well as acting in the US – simply captioned his post: "Blessed. #babiesofinstagram".
And fans have since flooded to the comment section to congratulate Matthew and Nadine on the arrival of the newest member of the Marsden-Metcalf tribe, the duo having married in 2005.
"Congratulations to you, Matt and the family [love heart emoji]", one fan quickly wrote.
Another continued the sentiments: "Hello lil one! Happy days big man. Huge congratulations and well done Mrs M!"
"Congratulations! What a precious little bundle", a third added.
Though he keeps the names of his children private, Matthew – who now resides with his wife and kids in Texas, having become an American citizen in 2020 – regularly shares snaps of the youngsters getting up to mischief.
One snap on Instagram sees Matthew carrying one of his younger sons on his shoulders, captioned; "Sunday stroll with my son. Nickname? Billy Buttcrack!"
Another 2020 photo of one of his precious daughters sitting pretty with a bow in her hair read: "My littlest is getting bigger. Let's heal and come together in love for our children. We deserve to do better for them."
Another of his daughters photographed chatting to a parrot was also posted to Matthew's account, which he captioned: "My daughter made a friend at the pet shop today!"
His eldest son Connor Marsden has pursued a career in modelling, with dad Matthew regularly snaps of the handsome youngster.
One black-and-white photo of Connor, posted to Matthew's Instagram is captioned: "My son @connormarsden_ killing it as a model. Please go follow him."
Another of Matthew's sons was papped dancing with one of his daughters and she stands holding his hand upon the kitchen table, captioned: "First dance with her big brother. Xxx".
In another photo, Matthew gives credit to his Maltese-born wife for capturing the moment that two of his daughters were cuddling, captioning the snap: "My wife took this pic of my daughters with her iPhone. She has an eye for it, don't you think?"
Whilst living in the States, Matthew received the title of Kentucky Colonel, the highest award that is bestowed on individuals by the state of Kentucky, in recognition of his support of the U.S. military, and has parachuted with the United States Army Parachute Team.
But before emigrating to the US, Matthew became a firm favourite amongst Corrie viewers and his fellow Wetherfield co-stars, bagging the 1997 National Television Award for Most Popular Newcomer.
But his big acting break came in 1995, when he joined the cast of the Corrie's ITV rival soap opera Emmerdale, playing the upper crust Daniel Weir, lover of Linda Glover.
But after departing the show, Matthew turned his attention to the world of music, signing a £500,000 record deal Columbia Records, his 1998 debut single "The Heart's Lone Desire" reached number 13 in the UK singles chart.
In another dramatic twist of fate, the years that followed saw the star return to acting, portraying Paris in the 2003 USA networks mini-series Helen of Troy, and prior to this, as Army Ranger Dale Sizemore in Ridley Scott's 2001 blockbuster war film Black Hawk Down.
