An American woman who moved to Paris has revealed how she got skinnier after moving to France despite eating more and working out less.
TikTok creator Soldana, originally from California, took to the video-sharing platform to reveal how her lifestyle had changed since relocating.
The singer-songwriter, 26, said that ‘there’s got to be something different in the food’ before relaying her fears for her loved ones still eating American diets.
And it seems that the phenomenon has not gone unnoticed by other social media users either who were quick to share their own experiences.
TikTok creator Soldana, originally from California, took to the video-sharing platform to reveal how her lifestyle had changed
The singer-songwriter, 26, claimed that ‘there’s got to be something different in the food’ in Paris
In the clip, which has so far been viewed more than 37,000 times, Soldana speaks to camera as she asks: ‘Tell me why since moving to France, it is noticeably easier for me to stay skinny without dieting and by exercising less than I did in the US.’
She continues: ‘Now I have some theories I would like to share… Like everyone else around me I was always hyper conscious about my appearance and my physical fitness.
‘I was constantly going through a diet cycle. Food was always something in the back of my mind that I would stress about. I would never just enjoy a meal – it was always like “oh my gosh there is so much bread” or “there’s too many carbs in this meal.”
‘Fast forward a couple of years and now I’ve been living in France for two to three years.
‘One, I’m older so my metabolism should be slowing down but two, since living here I’ve got to say I feel like I eat more.
‘But for some reason I’m skinnier which tells me there’s got to be something different in the food here.
‘I think most of us heard that the US is a lot less strict on what they allow in their food products versus Europe which has stronger regulations.’
Soldana reveals: ‘I have even heard directly from some gluten-free friends in the US that when they come to Europe, that rule doesn’t apply to them because the pasta and the bread here is made with ingredients which don’t give them the intolerance they have in the US.

The TikTok star also relayed her fears for her loved ones still eating American diets which she believes could be impacting their health
And it seems that Soldana is not alone – as dozens of other social media users flooded the comments with similar observations from across Europe
‘So what I’m getting at here is why can’t we have the same in the US. If I can eat more while living in France because the food is “better quality,” that makes me concerned about the health of my parents and my family and friends who are living in the States.’
She concludes: ‘So what the hell US Government? Can you please get your “ish” together.’

One wrote: ‘100 per cent different. I ate more when I was in Spain and lost weight. Loved it!’
Another added: ‘Absolutely. I’ve noticed the same thing while visiting France. Love that.’
And a third said: ‘Ugh I talk about this all the time the food is SO different.’
