A mum who covered half her body in tattoos to hide her "imperfections" now wants to ink even more of her skin.

Self-titled Mrs Inked UK, 33, wants at least 80% of her skin inked with designs by her 40th birthday.

The sales and customer service assistant, from Lincolnshire, got her first taste of tattoos at the age of 16 and now lets her two children help her choose designs.

She has more than 45% of her body covered, including a bum full of roses, and doesn't plan to stop getting inked any time soon.

The body art fan, who prefers to keep her name anonymous, exclusively told Daily Star: "I was 16 [when I got my first tattoo] – whoops.

"I got a few at 18 and 19 (the side roses) but stopped as I had my children and wasn't financially able to have anymore so I waited until my 30th birthday and got a full leg and a sleeve.

"I am currently working on my other leg and sleeve."

Since her 30th birthday, Mrs Inked UK has really picked up the speed and has now lost count of how many tattoos she has.

"I'm about 45% covered, I've lost count," she admitted.

"I have full side and bum tattoo of roses, full leg, full hip, full sleeve, and [I'm] working on the other arm.

"My confidence has grown since lockdown, getting tattoos has covered all my imperfections that I saw in the mirror, they act as a plaster hiding veins, stretch marks and therefore I have confidence to show my skin.

"I have a condition called pulmonary hypertension and my legs swell badly, getting tattoos takes my mind off seeing the water retention in my legs and focuses on the artwork my tattoos.

"[I want] to carry on getting tattooed this year as my aim is to be 80% covered in tattoos by my 40th."

Even though she loves body art, Mrs Inked UK is not going all the way due to "prejudices" within professional settings.

"[My] neck, hands and face will not be getting tattooed as their is still to much prejudices in the workplace," the mum said.

"People see me in my work suits and clothes and automatically think I'm posh and snobby but when they see me in my gym clothes and or normal clothes, they always question why I would decide to have so many tattoos.

"I was known in a previous job as a posh chav.

"Prejudices come from both sides, people that know me for my tattoos are shocked that I work in management but people that know me as office girl "Karen" they are shocked I have tattoos.

"It works both ways and I love that!"
