CHECK your change and you could find a coin worth a small fortune.
But how much can you get for a Battle of Britain 50p? We take a look at the details.
The special Battle of Britain 50p piece was designed and minted in 2015.
It was timed to mark the 75th anniversary of the iconic dogfights over the Channel.
Sculptor Gary Breeze illustrated the limited edition coins with a nod to the heroic Few and squadrons of Spitfires in the air.
Breeze also worked on the Queen's 95th birthday commemorative coin, the 2021 Remembrance Day coin and more.
With millions of Battle of Britain 50p coins minted in 2015, it isn't one of the rarest 50p pieces out there.
If you can find a Kew Gardens 50p, for example, you could pocket upwards of £700.

How rare is the Battle of Britain 50p?
With 5.9million Battle of Britain 50p coins minted in 2015, it isn't quite one of the rarest.
Nor is it one of the most sought-after by collectors.
According to Change Checker's most recent scarcity index from November 2021, it's actually one of the more common special edition 50p pieces in circulation.
It's the 30th most common out of more than 70 coins tracked by the site – with special Kew Gardens coins the rarest of all.
There are 71 different varieties of 50p coins in circulation today, with 66million minted in 2020 alone, the last year the Royal Mint has released figures for.

How much is the Battle of Britain 50p worth?
As it's a relatively common coin, Battle of Britain 50p pieces aren't hugely lucrative.
Despite their stunning design, they tend to sell for only around £1 to £1.50 on eBay.
That's still a decent return of two to three times the coins' face value – so if you've got plenty of them, you can make money.
But selling an individual one probably isn't worth your time, unless it's part of a collection.
Yesterday (January 23) one sold for £1.20 on the auction website, while on January 22 a Battle of Britain 50p was flogged for £1.99.
However, if your Battle of Britain 50p is a Brilliant Uncirculated version, it could be worth much more.
According to Chancery Collection, a Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) Battle of Britain 50p went for more than £500 on eBay in 2019.
There are only about 35,000 of these, according to the coin experts.
But BU coins are higher quality pieces not designed to be used as legal tender, so you're unlikely to find one in your spare change.
If you're not sure whether yours might be a BU piece, check the Royal Mint's guide to each kind of coin.
