BARCLAYS is to close another 27 bank branches – bringing the total number of its closures to 103 this year.
The bank had already said 63 of its outlets would shut shop in 2022.
A Barclays spokesperson said: “We continue to review and adjust our branch footprint to ensure it reflects the way that our customers are increasingly choosing to do their banking.
"We will always give twelve weeks’ notice of any branch closures, explaining the rationale for the decision, as well as highlighting alternative branches and ways to bank.
"This includes working with the local community to find different, more flexible ways for our colleagues to continue to provide local banking support, such as through pop-up presences."
It is the latest bank to announce more closures as the industry reacts to changing consumer habits.

Rocio Concha of consumer group Which? said: "Barclays is right to say that consumers' banking habits are becoming more digital.
However, there remains a significant minority, for whom cash is a vital lifeline to pay for everyday essentials and keep track of their spending, that aren't yet ready or willing to make that switch."

The closures will happen as soon as later this month, with the sites in Bexhill-on-Sea and Epping shutting their doors on June 22.
Other branches will close through July and August.
Barclays is not the only bank that is reducing the number of branches it runs.
Lloyds Banking Group recently confirmed another 20 closures of Halifax and Lloyds bank branches are coming this year.
Affected locations will shut between August and November this year, and Unite union warned that 69 employees would be affected by the changes.
The firm assured customers that for every branch that closures, there will be a free cash machine or Post Office within one mile.
HSBC, meanwhile, will shut 69 branches this year – it comes after the banking giant closed 82 of its banks last year, and 27 the year before.
And Santander has reduced its opening hours – all but four of its sites will now only open until 3pm on weekdays.
Experts predict that around 700 to 800 bank sites across the UK could face the chop in 2022.
As well as fewer people using branches, companies are looking to cut costs as sites become more expensive to staff and run.
Barclays' has 10million digital customers and said 70% of its activity can be done digitally.
It is also expanding its "pop-up presence" and has more than 50 sites in community centres, libraries and other spaces.
