A food recall has been issued for Cow & Gate and Aptamil baby food products. The affected batches are sold at Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Ocado.

Food recall warnings are not often issued but should be taken seriously by consumers.

Nutricia has issued a recall for three of its products as they could contain apple stocks.

The Food Standards Agency website states: “Nutricia is recalling Cow & Gate and Aptamil Muesli products because some packs have been found to contain pieces of apple stalks.

“The presence of the apple stalks presents a choking hazard to babies making these products unsafe to eat.”

This would make the products extremely dangerous for babies to eat and shoppers should check for the affected batches.

Cow & Gate My First Muesli 10+ months

Pack size – 330 grams

Best before – October 13, 2021, December 20, 2021 and January 4, 2022

Aptamil Oats, Raisin & Apple Bircher Muesli 10+ months

Pack size – 275 grams

Best before – December 27, 2021 and January 16, 2022

Aptamil Multigrain & Fruit Bircher Muesli 10+ months

Pack size – 275 grams

Best before – December 28, 2021 and January 16, 2022

Shoppers can find the best before dates on the back of the packs below the barcode.

Nutricia released a statement to give more information on the risk.

It said: “These products are being recalled as a precaution because some have been found to contain pieces of apple stalk.

“Apple is one of the ingredients in these muesli products.

“We are sorry that this has happened and would like to apologise for any inconvenience.”

Anyone who has bought the products is urged not to feed them to babies.

Instead, they can be returned to the store where they were bought for a full refund.

Customers do not need a receipt to get a refund on the products.
