When you think of Michelin-starred restaurants, you probably think they’re going to break the bank.
For example, a meal at Heston Blumenthal’s three-star Fat Duck will set you back at least £250 per person, and a tasting menu at Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester comes in at £170.
But, if you do your research, it doesn’t need to be so expensive.
Budgeting experts, thinkmoney, have analysed the menus and prices of 148 Michelin-star restaurants – revealing 20 where you can have a meal for less than £30 a head.
Surprisingly, 50% of restaurants of the top 20 cheapest restaurants are based in London, with the top spot being taken by Cornerstone.
This one-star Michelin restaurant costs just £21.50 per person for two dishes each.
A. Wong, based in Pimlico, London, is the cheapest two-star Michelin restaurant at £28 per person.
If you’re after a bougie-on-a-budget dinner outside of London, the two cities with the second most Michelin star restaurants are Edinburgh and Birmingham (joint).
Also surprising are the smaller towns with acclaimed (yet reasonable) eateries, like Cupar in Fife and Mountsorrel in Leicestershire.
If you’re planning on booking any of these do check first, as some of these prices are based on lunch menus or specific dishes.
