The Duchess of Cornwall has been pictured in Wightman Road Mosque, meeting and speaking with members of the place of worship. The Duchess visited the Mosque after her first engagement of the day at a vaccine centre in Tottenham.
Photos of Camilla were yesterday shared on Clarence House’s social media pages.
Posting on Instagram, the Royal account’s caption said: “The Duchess of Cornwall today visited communities in Haringey, London.
“At Wightman Road Mosque, HRH was welcomed by Sister Bibi Khan, President of the London Islamic Society, and saw how the organisation has supported their community through the pandemic.
“Members of the mosque have helped those in need by distributing food hampers as well as providing counselling and advice to those struggling.”
The caption continued: “The Mosque was also the first to hold a pop-up vaccine centre in Haringey to encourage those reluctant to be vaccinated to come forward.
“Earlier in the day, The Duchess met staff, volunteers and patients receiving the COVID-19 vaccine at Tottenham Vaccination Centre. The team at the centre consists of volunteers and vaccinators from all health care backgrounds and medical students from across London. The centre has also been working with the local community to combat vaccine hesitancy.
“Staff also showed HRH the Covid-19 vaccine preparation process – during operating hours the site delivers at least one vaccine per minute!”
The images revealed that Camilla was wearing a long black dress with a v-neckline and a white shirt underneath.
On top of her dress, the Duchess sported a structured black jacket, cropped at her waistline.
The jacket had a slit in each of its sleeves that looked adjustable with a zip – Camilla had the sleeve slits open to show more of her white shirt.
While in the Mosque, the Duchess wore a white scarf as a sign of respect, and a leopard print mask.
Unlike other members of the Royal Family, such as the Queen and the Duchess of Cambridge, Camilla is rarely seen in bright colours and prefers to opt for neutral tones such as black, brown, blue, white, and beige.
Fans of the Duchess were quick to praise Camilla on Instagram, expressing their delight at both her work and her appearance.
Once commenter said: “Fantastic, what a meaningful visit! The Duchess looks stunning and I love that she helped mixing a vaccine! Great Job, Camilla.”
Another added: “Camilla also donated items to their [the Mosque’s] ramadan collection for local refugees.”
“Very thoughtful and graceful of the Duchess to cover her head in respect of the community she was meeting!” another fan noted.
Other Instagram users also exclaimed how “glamorous”, “respectful”, and “beautiful” Camilla looked.
“Camilla is so elegant,” one Royal fan said.
The Duchess of Cornwall has been seen in this exact outfit before: she wore the same dress, shirt, jacket, and even mask, to visit a community centre in Ladbroke Grove, west London, in October last year.
For both occasions, Camilla wore high black suede boots with the black and white outfit.
As for jewellery, she paired the ensemble with her classic pearl earrings twice and, yesterday, she wore a gold chain bracelet around her left wrist.
The fact that Camilla has worn this outfit twice for two separate engagements suggests that the Duchess is mindful of sustainability, budget, or perhaps public opinion.
Fashion expert and personal stylist Samantha Harman agreed, as she noted that “the royals are the best example of why what you wear matters”.
She said: “They use clothing to build and sustain relationships, convey messages and help causes they feel passionately about.
“When you’re on a world stage, how you dress is always going to be scrutinised. It must be hard to strike a balance between representing the crown, wearing what you as an individual love, finding clothes that photograph well from all angles and being considerate of the costs.”
The Duchess of Cornwall has worn the black dress and white shirt – without the jacket – more than twice in the past.
As well as yesterday and last October, she wore the outfit in November 2020 to record a message ahead of last year’s Booker Prize ceremony.
At the time, she paired the dress and shirt with a red poppy brooch and her pearl earrings.
