AS the colder winter months are finally over, we tend to ditch the black clothes and reach for more vibrant ones instead.
But fashion lovers will also know that the joys of bright coloured garments don't last long, as over time the dye begins to fade away.
Luckily, a mum-of-two has found the perfect recipe that will guarantee your favourite tops and dresses won't fade as quick – and the secret ingredient is already sitting in your kitchen cupboard.
Carolina McCauley is a busy mum-of-two whose savvy tidying hacks have made her a favourite amongst fellow cleaning fanatics on social media.
And now she has surprised her fans with a genius washing trick for bright coloured clothes.
Just like you would with dark jeans and t-shirts, the first thing to do is turning your clothes inside out – this will also prevent damage to the outside of your garments, such as residue from the washing powder.

In the video, the cleaning whizz simply put a generous of the salty mineral in an empty washing machine before chucking in the load.
Before setting up the temperature – a cold wash for the best results – Carolina also suggested using a cupful of quality detergent and a bit of vinegar.
