TOWELS feel as soft as a cloud when you first buy them – but after a few washes, they start feeling scratchy.

Luckily, Mrs Hinch fans have shared their top tips to make them stay fluffy.

And the best part?

Their go-to hack for keeping towels soft costs a little as 29p.

Mrs Hinch, whose real name is Sophie Hinchliffe, 32, has long been a fan favourite, with close to 4.5million followers on Instagram.

The star rose to fame a few years ago with various home hacks and now her fans have even started dedicated cleaning pages on social media.

In one such group, Mrs Hinch Cleaning tips and tricks on Facebook, a member sought advice: "Hi, any idea on how to keep my bath towels soft when line drying as opposed to being like exfoliating boards?”

Towels can often begin to feel stiff because of a build-up of soap residue, the Express reports.

Fabric softeners contain silicon that will make towels water repellent, so they won’t get as good a wash – and many recommended to not using it when washing your towels.

To remove the soapy residue left by fabric softener, cleaning enthusiasts said white vinegar worked a treat.

One said: “Put white vinegar in your rinse.”

"Use white vinegar instead of conditioner. It’s honestly such a cheap and amazing method for achieving soft and fluffy towels," another added.

A third wrote: "Stop using fabric softener. It's the animal fats making them hard. Mine are all soft again now because I use white vinegar.”

"I use white vinegar in the rinse cycle. It takes out any residue left in your towels and fluffs them up. If you use this method you’ll have no more crunchy towels. It's amazing and the cheapest product I’ve found to restore them.” A fourth commented.

Many recommended adding a cup of white vinegar into the rinse cycle of your washing machine.
