A London-based foodie has shared her simple recipe for the ultimate pigs in blankets – and the secret ingredient is cheese – yes, you heard that correctly.

Emily, a food-loving mum, took to social media to show off how she makes the best festive snack – cheesy pigs in blankets.

Using a cheeky treat many of us will remember from our childhoods – cheese strings – Emily left many totally stunned with her unique take on a festive favourite.

She started out by lightly slicing down the middle of her sausages using a sharp knife.

Emily then placed a whole cheese string in the middle, before grabbing her streaky bacon and wrapping it around. 

She wrote: “Place them on some baking paper and pop them in the oven or air fryer.

“I made mine in the air fryer at 180°C for 15 minutes.”

Seconds later, Emily showed off her finished snack and used her fingers to tear apart the sausage, showing an epic cheese pull.

If you’re a cheese lover, you’ll need to give this recipe a go, as it’s safe to say, our mouths are now watering.

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @emilyscooking_, has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly amassed a staggering 512,600 views in just one day.

Social media users were open-mouthed at the unique take on a British staple and many took to the comments to share their thoughts. 

One person said: “Oh my days do I need to try these.”

Another added: “Game changer.”

A third commented: “This looks delicious.” 

However, not everyone was as keen on the cheesy recipe and particularly weren’t a fan of using cheese strings. 

One user wrote: “Cheese strings??? get in the bin.”

A second claimed: “So people just don’t understand cooking.”
