Netflix has unveiled the official trailer of its upcoming film, Monster.
The forthcoming drama is based on Walter Dean Myers’ 1999 novel of the same name and follows a teenager named Steve Harmon (Kelvin Harrison, Jr.). The 17-year-old is an intelligent honor student from Harlem who attends an elite high school and has a penchant for film, but is then charged with felony murder and faces a complex legal battle that could put him in prison for the rest of his life.
Harrison, Jr. is joined by Jennifer Hudson as Mrs. Harmon, Jeffrey Wright as Mr. Harmon, A$AP Rocky as an artist named William King, Nas as Harmon’s fellow inmate, John David Washington and Jharrel Jerome as Harmon’s co-defendants Richard “Bobo” Evans and Osvaldo Cruz, Jennifer Ehle and Tim Blake Nelson.
Originally titled All Rise, the film first premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and is directed by Anthony Mandler and co-executive produced by Nas, John Legend and more.
