Although the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been around since 1939, it has successfully maintained its grip on Millennials over the past 30 or so years as if growing up alongside them to deliver more (relatively) mature classics like Deadpool. However, keeping its PG-13 ratings is always a priority, as violence, sexual content and profanities are kept in reserve.
That’s what makes Chris Pratt‘s antics in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 all the more noteworthy, as the actor playing the movie’s titular role as Peter Quill says the word ‘f*ck’ for the first time in MCU history. As it turns out, the word wasn’t even supposed to be part of the script, but Pratt blurted it out spontaneously on set and director James Gunn decided to keep it in the final cut.
The tense scene plays out as the Star-Lord gang is piling into the car together, and Mantis, played by Pom Klementieff, is trying to open the passenger side door. As she continues to struggle, Quill finally blurts out “Open the f*cking door.” And just like that an 84 year run of clean language is broken.
