Arnar Már Jónsson and Luke Stevens‘ RANRA is reuniting with Salomon for the second installment of their collaborative effort. The Iceland-born, London-based label is the embodiment of gorpcore fashion, becoming synonymous with functional designs made for the great outdoors.
RANRA and Salomon came together in late 2022, bringing a surreal approach to the Salomon Cross Pro. For Spring/Summer 2023, the brand reworks the same model with a “Better” mentality, continuing to establish its ethical ideals through sustainable design. The low-top sneaker arrives in two colorways, spread all over the table, and baked into Scandinavian meals.
The collaboration highlights a less is more design process through natural dyes and reduced adhesives. The SS23 release is clad in “Cathay Spice/Kelp/Bright Lime Green” and Turmeric/Blazing Orange/Scarlet Ibis hues, built with cotton Ripstop uppers, exposed stitching that secures the perimeters into place, and minimalistic lacing systems that transform into heel tabs. The extended tongue tags boast co-branded touches, completing the design with recycled rubber soles injected with EVA foam technology for a comfortable ride.
Take a closer look at the RANRA x Salomon Cross Pro “Better” in the gallery above. The collaboration will drop on August 24 via the RANRA and Salomon websites and select retailers for $230 USD.
