Despite the supply of PlayStation 5 consoles still being unable to meet its demand, Sony has now announced that prices for the gaming device will be increasing across some of its biggest markets. Notably, the U.S. hasn’t been affected, but other major markets across the globe have all been hit with price hikes, including the U.K. and Europe, Canada and Mexico, and a number of Asian countries.

Explaining the decision, Sony mostly attributed it to “global inflation rates” and “adverse currency trends” that have combined to create “challenging economic conditions.”

The price changes are as follows:

  • PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – ¥4,299 yuan
  • PS5 Digital Edition – ¥3,499 yuan
• Australia
  • PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – AUD $799.95
  • PS5 Digital Edition – AUD $649.95
• Mexico

There’s no indication from the company’s blog post that prices will eventually go back down, but Sony says it’s still working hard to increase supply for the console.
