Tokyo-based imprint Nanamica and New York City-based label Awake NY have announced their first-ever collaboration, introducing a lightweight and functional 14-piece collection for urban environments. Highlighting the series are plaid and black contrast-stitched dock jackets, relaxed cargo pants, and bucket hats dressed in fast-drying and stretchy ALPHADRY® materials.
Additional layering options include hoodies and sweatpants lined in 13.5 oz cotton polyester, oxford wind shirts lined in CORDURA® nylon, and purple, black, and white graphic tees bearing the collaboration crown logos. Rounding out the assemblage are ripstop nylon utility shoulder bags featuring paneled side pockets. “The pieces truly are a marriage of Japan and New York City. Working with Nanamica’s beloved silhouettes, we incorporated our design language and added patterns, specifically the plaid,” comments Angelo Baque, Founder and Creative Director of Awake NY. “These pieces can easily be worn on the streets of Tokyo or on Museum Mile here in New York – they’re versatile and functional, essential qualities for any city inhabitant.”
The collection will be available beginning September 15 on the nanamica website, directly managed stores, and at select retailers. Nanamica and Awake will hold a launch party at the Nanamica Soho store on opening day.
