Ahead of a setting sun this past weekend, Marine Serre invited guests to gather at a sports field in Paris for its Spring/Summer 2023 collection presentation. Dubbed “STATE OF SOUL,” the late-night showing served to continue designer Marine Serre’s push for inclusion while promoting authentic innovation through Paris Fashion Week.
Referencing the Olympic opening ceremonies, the SS23 showing featured a varied cast of models comprised of veteran and new model faces, along with athletes, friends and family of all ages. Additionally, the collection simply rejected the traditional sense of a menswear show, despite its billing, displaying a rather expansive unisex range.
Models that made their way on the 400-meter circuit showcased everything from swimwear made from recycled fibers, striking denim, traditional tailoring, dresses, loungewear and much more. Aside from developing a moving color palette, the designer also established a new lexicon of patterns that built on the design language established by the signature Crescent Moon print. Rounding up the SS23 collection were showings of upcycled jewelry through prints and actual accessories along with a selection of footwear for both men and women.
