Mama June Shannon has offered up an update on daughter Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell’s health, revealing that her cancer diagnosis is ‘terminal’.

The 28-year-old – who came to fame on reality series Here Comes Honey Boo Boo – was diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma in January, and has been undergoing chemotherapy ever since.

In a new interview, June explained that, although the cancer is ‘aggressive’, she is coping with the illness well.

‘She’s actually doing pretty good,’ the TV star said. ‘She’s handling it pretty good.

‘For me, it’s an emotional rollercoaster sometimes. Mentally it’s always on my mind. We know it’s terminal.’

Anna has undergone four rounds of chemotherapy since she received her diagnosis, and found a recent treatment particularly rough.

June shared that her daughter, who has two children of her own, is now assessing her options on what course of treatment to take next.

‘She just wants to see how it’s going to go,’ she continued to Entertainment Weekly. ‘We don’t know what to expect because the cancer is very aggressive, and it grew from nothing to something huge on the left side of her body really fast.

‘She’s stage 4. She’s not going to go into remission. We’ve all accepted that, so I just tell people one day at a time because you never know.’

News of Anna’s illness first broke in March, with insiders telling TMZ that she initially went to the doctor complaining of a stomach ache.

The mom-of-two then underwent a series of tests when experts discovered cancer in her lung, kidney and liver, and she received her first chemo treatment in February.

The Mayo Clinic says that adrenal cancer can occur at any age, but is more likely to affect young children under the age of five, and adults in their 40s-50s.

It is unclear what causes the condition, but symptoms include weight gain, muscle weakness, back pain, abdominal bloating, nausea and vomiting.

‘As her mom, there are some days that I don’t know how to deal with it,’ June previously told Us Weekly about Anna’s health.

‘I can just imagine, like, if I’m feeling that way as her mom, how she’s feeling that her way as a person who is having to live with it day in, day out.’
