Luminox and renowned survival expert Bear Grylls have concluded its Survival Series, a trilogy of specially designed watches covering the rugged brand’s Air, Land and Sea collections.
The final watch in the series, the Luminox Bear Grylls Air Collection, features a quartz world time movement. An orange GMT hand points to the watch’s second timezone on a 24-hour scale at the centre of the dial while the bi-directional rotating Carbonox bezel with aluminum insert features all 24 timezones, making the calculation of the current time anywhere in the world a simple matter of addition or subtraction.
Orange is used again for the Bear Grylls ‘Never Give Up’ motto on the dial and caseback and for a rubber crown ring, to allow for adjustment in any conditions while Luminox’s radioluminescent Tritium gas tubes light up the dial without the need for ‘charging’ in daylight first.
The 45mm stainless steel watch is water resistant to 200m and is available now on either a steel Milanese Mesh bracelet on a deployant clasp priced $795 USD or a Cordura strap with pin buckle for $695 USD.
In other watch news, Omega returns to the America’s Cup as official timekeeper with a new lockable regatta timer.
