Apple TV+ has officially landed an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Lionel Messi‘s journey with Inter Miami CF. A new untitled six-part docuseries follows Messi’s arrival in Miami to play for the MLS team.
The new docuseries joins will be produced in tandem with Apple Original’s previously announced documentary that also tracks the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner throughout his career, five FIFA Wordl Cup appearances and his FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 championship. A veteran of the sport, Messi has spent over 20 years in Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. Since playing for Inter Miami, he has scored at least once in each of his first five games, leading his team to win after win in the MLS.
In a statement, Messi said, “I couldn’t be happier coming to Miami and joining such an amazing group of people and organization. I’m joining with the desire to compete, win and help the club continue to grow. I also think we’re going to really enjoy ourselves, have a good time and that very special things are going to happen.” There has yet to be an official name to the docuseries but it is set to be produced by Smuggler Entertainment in association with Major League Soccer and executive produced by Emmy Award winner Tim Pastore and Matt Renner, who both did Free Solo alongside Patrick Milling Smith and Brian Carmody and Scot Boggins.
In other entertainment news, Wonder Woman 3 is reportedly no longer in the works, despite Gal Gadot’s comments.
