Leigh-Anne Pinnock has dropped her first solo single after the end of Little Mix after admitting she felt ‘undervalued’ while part of the all-girl group.
The singer, 31, who recently married long-term partner, former Watford footballer Andre Gray, dropped Don’t Say Love on Friday morning – and it’s a firecracker.
In a ceremony rumoured to have taken place in Jamaica, Andre and Leigh-Anne tied the knot after first announcing their relationship back in 2017.
Earlier this month, a snippet of the single, now revealed to be Don’t Say Love, was dropped on social media, which left fans eager to hear the rest.
And now Leigh-Anne, who has ditched her surname when it comes to her future pop career, has revealed the garage-influenced Don’t Say Love in full.
Speaking about the song, she said: ‘It’s about no longer seeking external validation and regaining my confidence and sense of self.’
She explained further: ‘This video is a visual representation of me finding my voice. I’m excited to continue to do so with my first love, music.’
Fans who’ve waited for the single couldn’t contain their excitement: ‘I’m speechless! The visuals, the lewks, the vocals – everything screams perfect!’
Another commented: ‘Talk about a DEBUT! She’s not just here, she’s here to STAY! Proud of you, Leigh-Anne! It’s only up from here.’
Leigh-Anne’s Little Mix bandmates Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall supported Don’t Say Love by sharing the music video to fans on their mailing lists.
The new single comes after Leigh-Anne admitted to feeling ‘undervalued’ while a member of Little Mix, referring to the music industry as ‘very white’.
‘The pop industry is very white, we did have a predominately white fan base. It took me so long to understand why I was feeling so undervalued.’
She continued, speaking to Vogue: ‘I just blamed myself. My family would be like, “Oh, Leigh, you’re getting the same money. It’s fine.” I just couldn’t accept that.’
In a chat with Hits Radio, she spoke about her wedding to Andre and the couple’s long distance marriage, with her footballer husband currently playing in Greece.
She said: ‘It’s hard, really hard, and especially with the babies, but you’ve just got to do what you’ve got to do.’ Andre currently plays for Aris Thessaloniki.
Before the wedding, Leigh-Anne reunited with Jade on her hen party, after delaying the celebrations during the pandemic.
