After first gracing the soundwaves of Euphoria‘s second season, Labrinth‘s “Never Felt So Alone,” now featuring the haunting vocals of Billie Eilish, has officially hit streaming platforms. The long-awaited, hotly-desired track, which did not appear on the hit HBO series’ accompanying album, arrived on Friday with a music video featuring the two chart-toppers.
In the visual, Eilish and Labrinth are locked to a metal structure inside a dimly-lit warehouse, trapped from the outside world alongside a number of other silent individuals. “I thought you were my new best friend/Wish I knew better then/Who knew you were just out to get me/My whole world just fell out,” Eilish sings on the track, which Labrinth co-produced with her brother, Finneas.
In conversation with Eddie Francis on Apple Music 1, Labrinth provided context to the collaboration and his initial approach to Eilish. “When we spoke, she was like, ‘Lab, I’ve been listening to your music for years.’ I was like, ‘What?’ It was like, ‘Billie? What? You?’ She was like, ‘Yeah, been a fan.’ She was like, “’ love this song as well, so I would love to do it with you.’ That was big for me because I felt like we both get each other musically. It didn’t feel foreign to me, and I love what she’s done on the record.”
