While fans have been asking for Hugh Jackman to return as Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it turns out that the studio has been in talks with someone new to take on the iconic mutant. Speaking to the New York Times in a recent interview, Kingsman star Taron Egerton confirmed that he had met with Marvel to discuss possibly bringing Wolverine in the MCU.
“I don’t think it would be wrong to say that,” Egerton said when asked about him possibly taking on the mantle. “I’d be excited but I’d be apprehensive as well, because Hugh is so associated with the role that I’d wonder if it’d be very difficult for someone else to do it.” He added: “Hopefully if it does come around, they’ll give me a shot.”
In another interview with Comicbook, the actor also replied “I’d love to” when asked if he’d want to portray Logan, and revealed that during his talks with Marvel, the studio’s boss Kevin Feige was also present. Of course, Marvel has yet to announce anything official itself, and given how secretive the studio can be about its future plans, fans will probably have to wait a while before we see Wolverine return to the silver screen.
Elsewhere in entertainment, volume two of Stranger Things season four crashed Netflix when it debuted.
