When it comes to New Balance and its collaborative arm, perhaps one of its most consistent partners on the roster is Junya Watanabe. For Spring 2021, the Japanese designer revisited its partnership with the Boston-based sportswear brand for a simple black and white BB480, and now his CdGMAN imprint is tossing in three collaborative New Balance AM574 colorways, all of which are designed with casual and contemporary flair.
The silhouette is mostly comprised of two materials including a smooth suede which makes up the overlays, as well as a breathable mesh which is present on the toe boxes and the ankle collars. Slivers of leather also join the mix and get positioned near the ankle and towards the heels. Branding shows out in a handful of areas — the New Balance hits arriving on the tongues, rear molds, and heels. From there, a Junya Watanabe COMME des GARÇONS MAN spell out adorns the insoles, while its acronym graces the heels of the midsoles in bold black font.
Three colorways are featured in this launch including a green with yellow accents, a black/white offering and a beige/white pair. All are available right now via Dover Street Market for £220 (approx. $303 USD).
For additional sneaker news, New Balance recently revealed its “Dark Blaze” 327.
