Jeremy Vine has spoken out after accusations he is the BBC presenter who has been taken-off air following the ‘teen sexual photos’ allegations that have been swirling.

The 58-year-old took to Twitter to shut down any rumours, after some social media users tried to suggest he could be the anonymous ‘BBC presenter’.

On Friday, it was claimed a male BBC star was reportedly being investigated for providing money in exchange for explicit photos from a teenager.

The well-known presenter, who has not been named, was accused of giving more than £35,000 to the anonymous teen for the imagery.

While the teenager at the centre of the allegations is now 20 years old, the situation is said to have begun when they were 17, with their mother saying that money received was used to fund a drug addiction.

When speaking about the alleged incident, the young person’s mother said that seeing the presenter involved on telly made her ‘sick’.

‘I blame this BBC man for destroying my child’s life,’ she added to The Sun.

Vine has now hit back at any allegations it could be him, responding to Tweets trying to identify him as the BBC presenter with: ‘This is seriously defamatory of me. I have screenshotted it and the retweets and passed it to a lawyer.

‘There is no truth WHATSOEVER in what you are saying.’

He elsewhere added: ‘They are completely and utterly untrue.’

In a separate Tweet, Vine wrote: ‘Just to say I’m very much looking forward to hosting my radio show on Monday – whoever the ‘BBC presenter’ in the news is, I have the same message for you as Rylan did earlier: it certainly ain’t me.’

Vine began presenting Newsnight in 1999 until 2002, before presenting Points of View between 2008 and 2018.

After a decade, he quit the programme and took over The Wright Stuff on Channel 5, and now hosts weekday programme The Jeremy Vine Show.

He continues to present a daytime BBC2 radio programme, which he confirmed he will return to on Monday.

This comes after former It Takes Two host Rylan also hit out at the rumours.

‘Not sure why my names floating about but re that story in The Sun- that ain’t me babe,’ he posted on Twitter.

‘I’m currently filming a show in Italy for the BBC, so take my name out ya mouths,’ he added, referring to Will Smith’s infamous line from last year’s Oscars, when he told host Chris Rock to keep wife Jada Smith’s name ‘out of his f***ing mouth’.

His statement came after he commented on a post of the newspaper’s front page being shared ahead of publication.

Late on Friday night, Rylan wrote on The Sun’s post: ‘It’s s*** like this that makes Twitter wild, I’m filming a new show in Italy for the BBC.’
