The Boys have officially returned with a full-length trailer for season three of the popular Amazon Prime Video series. Based on the DC Comics of the same name, the show follows a group of superheroes called the Seven that use their powers for their own monetary gain instead of good. Looking to bring them down are a group of vigilantes, the eponymous Boys.
The latest season takes place a year after season two left off. While Butcher has been keeping a relatively low profile, the supes’ criminal behavior has only gotten worse.
A voiceover warns that “there’s something wrong with Homelander” (Antony Starr), the leader of the Seven. Gearing up to stop him, Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) resorts to taking a mysterious green serum that, per Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), will grant him superhuman powers for 24 hours.
The trailer also introduces Jensen Ackles as the supe Soldier Boy. Known for his portrayal of Dean Winchester in the fantasy series Supernatural, the new role suggests that Ackles might be the missing piece to what the Boys need to finally take out Homelander.
The first three episodes of The Boys will premiere on Prime Video on June 3 before shifting to a weekly series. Watch the trailer for the forthcoming new season now.
In other entertainment news, Black Mirror season six is in the works at Netflix.
