After Cristiano Ronaldo joined Jacob & Co. for two new CR7 Epic X Watches, the luxury watchmaker has created a custom Caviar Flyin Tourbillon in celebration of their brand ambassador for joining the Saudi Arabinan Football Club Al Nassr.
At first glance, the one-of-a-king Caviar Flying Tourbillon “Tsavorite” looks like it is set with emeralds, but in fact, it is set with Tsavorite stones, the most expensive of all garnets. Tsavorites are known to be roughly 200 times rare than emeralds, available for just a fraction of the price. Known to be very durable, they also offer a similar appearance to emeralds but have far more brilliant sparkles.
The watch features an 18K white gold 47mm x 15.85mm Caviar case design, along with the Jacob the Jeweler set. case, and a classic bezel and dial. The crown features over 300 Tsavorite gemstones that give the piece a unique all-green iced-out aesthetic. The color was chosen as an ode to Saudi Arabian culture — the color green is often a representation of Islam and is believed to be the favorite color of Prophet Muhammad. The caliber JCAA43, measuring 34.6mm x 6.81mm, beats at 4Hz and drives the hours, minutes, and 60-second flying tourbillon (visible at 6), and the power reserve indicator. The watch also features 216 components, 27 jewels, and a 42-hour power reserve.
Ronaldo’s custom Caviar Flying Tourbillon “Tsavorite” timepiece is also paired with a matching green alligator leather strap. Made specially for the footballer, the piece is not for sale but it is expected to have a retail price of $780,000 USD.
