Kady McDermott is allegedly following in the footsteps of Adam Collard and returning to the Love Island villa for the second time.

The 27-year-old originally appeared in the second series of the rebooted ITV dating show in 2016, where she coupled up with Scott Thomas. The pair became boyfriend and girlfriend (anyone else only able to say this in Ryan Gosling’s Ken voice now?) and finished in third place.

The public could clearly sniff out the love that year – as first place was given to Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey, who are married with two children, and second place was Alex and Olivia Bowen, who are also married with a child.

Unfortunately, things didn’t work out as well with Scott, 34, and the pair split around a year after the show.

She went on to date The Only Way Is Essex star Myles Barnett, even appearing on the reality show that made him famous, and Aston Villa footballer Matty Cash.

This isn’t the first time Love Island have opted for this twist – Adam returned to the show in 2022 after his original 2018 stint, and Jessie Wynter appeared in the most recent winter series, after starring in the Australian version.

‘Kady was a fantastic Islander in 2016. She made brilliant television and bosses are hoping she can recreate the same magic in the villa this summer,’ a TV source told MailOnline.

She certainly brought plenty of entertainment the first time around with her fiery relationship with Scott, who she lived with in Manchester after the show.

Kady also had some confrontations with other women in the villa, including Malia Arkian who lasted less than a day as a result of their argument. Malia accused Kady of spilling her beverage on purpose, to which she said: ‘Do you think I’d waste my wine on your leg?’ Things escalated, and Malia was removed.

She also got very jealous when Scott went on a date with Tina Stinnes, and branded her a ‘Made in Chelsea reject.’

There were plenty of sweet moments too, including her tap dance at the annual talent show and Scott rolling up towels to spell ‘Be my gf’.

The source continued: ‘She’s also still looking for love so for Kady the hope is that she can finally find the man of her dreams.’

They added that Kady is now ‘older and wiser’, and looking for her ‘fairytale ending.’
