With Thor: Love and Thunder coming this July, the God of Thunder’s newest group of friends in the Guardians of the Galaxy are now gearing up for production for the team’s third standalone film, and new set photos have emerged showcasing a brand new uniform as well as a hint at who the main villain of the film might be. Featured below, the set images showcase both lead actor Chris Pratt‘s Star-Lord as well as Karen Gillan‘s Nebula dressed in the now-iconic Guardians uniform that debuted with Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning’s comic book run for the group back in 2008. The almost 15-year-old story arc is also said to form the core of James Gunn’s new project, introducing the long-awaited Adam Warlock, who is now being portrayed by Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and The Revenant veteran Will Poulter.
On top of revealing the team’s new uniform, some other set images spotted online have finally hinted at who the main villain of the film might be. So far, Chukwudi Iwuji’s character in the movie has been kept under wraps, but it now appears that he’ll be playing High Evolutionary, a cosmic villain and genius geneticist who reigns over a domain called the Counter-Earth, an Earth-like planet where his human-animal hybrids roam.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is slated to arrive on May 5, 2023.
