For Grand Seiko’s latest timekeeping offerings, the watchmaker took inspiration from the stunning skies as observed from their studio near Mt. Iwate. Comprising two GMT models, the drop features the aptly named ‘Sea of Clouds’ SBGJ275 and ‘Mid-heaven’ SBGM253.
As part of the watchmaker’s Sport Collection, the ‘Sea of Clouds’ GMT stars a gorgeous dial depicting its namesake scenery. Encased in stainless steel, the 44.2mm watch features a two-tone bezel, a matching metal bracelet, and a stunning exhibition caseback. Through the dual-curved sapphire crystal, the 9S86 caliber is in clear display, offering an unobstructed view of its light blue oscillating weight. Retailing for $7,600 USD, the ‘Sea of Clouds’ GMT will be released in a limited run of 2,000 units.
The face of the ‘Mid-heaven’ GMT features a light blue sunray dial, attired inside a mirror-finished case and bezel. Likewise, the oscillating can be observed via the see-through caseback, where it’s dressed in a tantalizing blue hue, and finished with anodic oxidation treatment. Limited to 1,700 pieces, the ‘Mid-heaven’ runs on the 9S66 automatic movement and will retail for $5,600 USD.
Both models will be available exclusively via Grand Seiko’s online and offline boutiques in October.
