Casio’s G-SHOCK has revealed a limited-edition Recrystallized series in celebration of its 40th anniversary.
Leading the charge in the new offering are the GMW-B5000PS, GMW-B5000PG and DW-5040PG models. The clear standouts are the first two which are based on the completely metal GMM-B5000D watch. Appearing in silver and gold-ion plating, the watches are made from stainless steel, which has been hardened by a gas-unfused deep-layer process – making it three times harder than traditional stainless steel. But what stands out about the process is the rugged crystalline effect that it gives the material. Additionally, what makes the grained effect unique is that each watch will feature slight variations. Completing the two watches is “SINCE 1983” on the dial a 40th-anniversary logo on the case back.
Elsewhere is the DW-5040PG, which appears in classic black with an engraved multicolored dial that reads “PROJECT TEAM” and “Tough.” The same hardening process has been applied to this watch as well, but the bezel and band are made from biomass plastics.
Take a look at the watches in the gallery above. Ranging in price from £280 GBP (about $342 USD) to £820 GBP (about $1,003 USD), the series is set to release soon online.
