DJ Khaled has officially dropped off his brand new album, KHALED KHALED.
Clocking in at almost a full hour, the 14-track record features a star-studded lineup of musical guests including Lil Wayne, Lil Baby, Cardi B, Post Malone, Migos, Megan Thee Stallion, Drake, Nas and JAY-Z (on the same track), Justin Bieber, 21 Savage and more. “All of it’s the one. You know what I’m saying?” Khaled said about the features during an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music. “You see the gift I gave to the world. Me, Jay-Z, Nas, Shotgun, Chainz on the hook and Harmonies by The Hive. Okay. Hold on. Listen. That’s a gift. Meaning as in, you know where we come from, you know what I’m saying? You know what that is. I haven’t seen that done like this ever, then you’ve got the records like, me, Roddy Rich and Lil Baby and Tiller. Summer’s here. Summer’s now. We start the summer. You know what I mean? It could be winter and if I dropped the project, it’d be summer. You know what I’m saying?”
He also touched on creating music during the pandemic, revealing that he was already working when it happened but he was taking his time. “Musically, in the studio, on the production level, I wanted to make sure it was at a certain level, but also like where you can’t find this on a beat CD. These records only come from this studio and this energy and this vibe, you know what I’m saying? So I wanted to make sure I took my time crafting and putting some great ideas on these records,” he explained, continuing, “But when the pandemic hit, I said, ‘They’re making us all stay home.’ And we got to stay home for the safety because that’s the most important. And I love the joy, the family time. But also I said, “‘ou mean they going to make Khaled sit home? And give him more time to think and give him more time to be great? Are you serious?’”
“I’m so passionate about the project. I’m excited, bro,” he added. “More importantly, I’m just so thankful from the fans and everybody just showing love. This is all love and light. You know what I’m saying? Listen. You know, we all work hard to give us our best work. I’m not just talking about me. All of us, all creators, creative giving music. It could be whatever you do. We all strive to be our best and this is definitely Khaled Khaled.”
