As the week in music comes to a close, HYPEBEAST has rounded up the 10 best projects for the latest installment of Best New Tracks.
This week’s list is led by the late DMX with his masterful posthumous album EXODUS, an Eminem remix with Jack Harlow and Cordae and a new track from J Balvin and Maria Becerra. There’s also collaborations from Mr Eazi, Dre Skull and Popcaan, PnB Rock, Pink Sweat$ and Swae Lee, Blxst and Bino Rideaux and Bad Bunny and Luar La L, plus offerings from EarthGang, Mustafa and Wiz Khalifa.
DMX – EXODUS
Def Jam Recordings and executive producer Swizz Beatz released DMX’s posthumous album EXODUS. The 13-track project features a fine selection of collaborations with the likes of JAY-Z, Nas and the Griselda titans, and is a masterful reminder of X’s unique voice. “This album, X couldn’t wait for his fans all around the world to hear and show just how much he valued each and every single person that has supported him unconditionally,” Swizz Beatz said in a previous statement.

Eminem x Jack Harlow x Cordae – “Killer (Remix)”
Eminem is bringing back his December 2020 album Music To Be Murdered By — Side B (Deluxe) with a remix of “Killer” with Jack Harlow and Cordae. The four-minute cut features contributions from the two guest artists and a brand new verse from Em, replacing his original bars.

J Balvin, Maria Becerra – “Qué Más Pues?”
J Balvin joined forces with YouTube star and 300 Entertainment signee Maria Becerra for the collaborative track, “Qué Más Pues?” The latest cut is set to appear on Balvin’s COLORES followup, and follows up the previously-released singles “Ma G”, “Tu Veneno”, “Otra Noche Sin Ti” and “7 De Mayo.”

Wiz Khalifa – “SKI Weedmix”
Wiz Khalifa shared a chopped and screwed rendition of Young Thug and Gunna’s “Ski,” titling his version “SKI Weedmix.” The cut arrives with a lengthy eight-and-a-half-minute music video, with the first six minutes showing the Taylor Gang head fix up what looks to be a tedious piece of apparatus.

PnB Rock x Pink Sweat$ x Swae Lee – “Forever Never”
PnB Rock enlisted Swae Lee and fellow Philly native Pink Sweat$ for the collab, “Forever Never.” Speaking to Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe, the artist shared, “Everybody goes through their relationship stuff. You know what I’m saying? And that just was me talking about what I’m going through right now in my relationship. You know what I’m saying? I’m dealing with the devil right now, a whole bunch of demons. You know what I’m saying? He’s trying to break up what we’ve got.” He also confirmed that his upcoming album is “a hundred percent done,” adding, “We’re rolling it out right now. And this is one of the songs that we’re rolling out with the album.I can’t wait for the world to hear it, to be honest.”

Mustafa – When Smoke Rises
Poet and songwriter Mustafa has finally released his awaited debut project, When Smoke Rises. The 8-track project features production from the likes of Frank Dukes and Jamie xx, as well as guest contributions from Sampha and James Blake, and the artist’s longtime friends and Regent Park natives Rax, Puffy L’z, and the late Ali and Smoke Dawg. “My entire plight, since I was young, has been in and around protecting and preserving the stories of my community,” Mustafa said in a statement. “It’s the reason that I began writing poetry. I’m like how am I going to preserve the stories that are not currently being told with any authenticity?”

EarthGang – “Aretha”
With their new album set to release this year, EarthGang is pushing forward with their Ghetto Gods series with the brand new freestyle, “Aretha.” The track arrives shortly after their own version of Drake and Rick Ross’ “Lemon Pepper Freestyle,” wherein they briefly explained why the actual Ghetto Gods album didn’t drop on the same day J. Cole did.

Bad Bunny x Luar La L – “100 MILLIONES”
Bad Bunny and Luar La L teamed up on the track “100 MILLIONES,” which marks the YHLQMDLG artist’s first release of the year. “You know, this track path, a lot of influence from my beginning the have, a lot of the old Bad Bunny. So this guy is so hot right now on the streets in Puerto Rico is killing it. He has that confidence. He has the energy,” he said in an interview with Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe. “Some can remember like when I was starting in the music. So I said like, I made this track. And I say I think that its cool doing with someone really can break the beats. I said, this guy is perfect, Luar La L. We’re so excited about this track. We love the type, the boys they love the track and I think that people are going to love.”

Blxst x Bino Rideaux – “Movie”
Rising L.A. artists Blxst and Bino Rideaux shared their newest collaboration, “Movie.” The single is set to appear on their upcoming sequel mixtape Sixtape 2, which follows their original 2019 release. “Me and Bino are like Shaq and Kobe, it’s only right we doubled back for part two to tear the summer up,” Blxst said in a statement. “LA is looking good right now; we have to keep the torch lit.” Rideaux added, “When Sixtape dropped it felt like everything tha city needed that summer…from bad b*****s to street n****s to old folks and kids. Me and Blxst on a track together guaranteed to bring that vibe out you.”

Dre Skull x Mr Eazi x Popcaan – “Sekkle & Bop”
Mixpak head Dre Skull, Nigerian superstar Mr Eazi and Jamaican dancehall icon Popcaan teamed up for the infectious new hit, “Sekkle & Bop.” The track marks a brand new collaboration between the trio, with Skull producing Mr Eazi’s “Supernova” in 2018 and executive producing Popcaan’s Forever.
