Benetti Yachts is launching its latest megayacht, the Benetti Motopanfilo. The stunning yacht is inspired by the luxurious lifestyle of the legendary 1960s.
The name “Motopanfilo” is an Italian word often used in the sixties to denote the superyachts synonymous with the glamorous jet-setting lifestyle of the era’s myriad of socialites and royal personalities. In the past, Benetti Yachts have caught the attention of traditional royalty, including Prince Rainier of Monaco, to pop royalty David Bowie, and his famous friends of the likes of Mick Jagger, Michael Caine, and Robin Williams.
The 37-meter yacht is a product of Francesco Struglia’s exterior design and Lazzarini Pickering Architetti’s interiors. Struglia revisits the original midship construction elements, maintaining its clean-cut lines, boasting austere elegance and a tapering form. The use of lines to integrate into the hull volume fuses the classic and modern-day influences of yacht design.
Lazzarini Pickering, who also masterminded Benetti’s 2004 Sai Ram, which was the first superyacht to introduce modern interiors at a time when it was deemed outrageous, reimagines traditional elements of the original Motopanfilo. With the latest yacht, various spaces were delineated allowing greater openness throughout and traditional beams are reworked as structural rib bones to dematerialize the walls. Classic mahogany tones are replaced with light oat colors for the floor and gently curved ceilings, heightening the sense of airiness and sea breeze passing through.
The Motopanfilo delivers generous, light-filled spaces, with constant uninterrupted visual contact with the surrounding sea. Terrace-abundant, guests can take in the views from every corner of the yacht, especially the Observation Deck positioned above the hardtop, conceived as an intimate and private fourth deck. A spiral staircase winds its way around a central mast, leading guests up to the sky lounge on the upper deck.
The displacement hull can reach a maximum speed of 16 to 18 knots and an approximate range of 3,800 nm at 10 knots. The Benetti Motopanfilo has four main engines including two MAN V12, 1,029 kW (1,400 hp) at 2,300 rpm and two MAN V12, 1,213 kW (1650 hp) at 2,300 rpm. Cabins hold up to five guests and four crew members.
In case you missed it, Azimut’s largest Grand Trideck megayacht is on course for a 2021 delivery.
