Bob Barker’s sad death aged 99 was confirmed by his longtime publicist, Roger Neal in a statement obtained by People.

He confirmed to the outlet: “It is with profound sadness that we announce that the World’s Greatest MC who ever lived, Bob Barker, has left us.

“I am so proud of the trailblazing work Barker, and I did together to expose the cruelty to animals in the entertainment industry including working to improve the plight of abused and exploited animals in the United States and internationally.

“We were great friends over these 40 years. He will be missed.”

Not long after this announcement, Roger announced there would not be a memorial service or funeral, according to Entertainment Tonight.

The pair were said to be high school sweethearts, with the couple meeting for the first time at an Ella Fitzgerald concert.

Following the confirmation of his death, flowers were placed on Bob’s star along the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.

Barker’s girlfriend Nancy Burnet, went public to say how she was “so proud of the trailblazing work” they “did together to expose the cruelty to animals in the entertainment industry and including working to improve the plight of abused and exploited animals in the United States and internationally”.

Bob was known for hosting CBS’s The Price Is Right from 1972 until 2007, with it being the longest-running game show in North American television history.

In 2006, after 34 years, he announced his retirement from the show; his final episode aired on June 15, 2007.

However, he later made three return appearances, in 2009 to promote his autobiography, Priceless Memories, and in 2013 to celebrate his 90th birthday.

Prior to The Price Is Right, Bob was the host of Truth or Consequences from December 1956 and stayed with that program through 1975.

Speaking about why he was so successful, Bob told the St. Petersburg Times in 2003: “So many hosts will ask a question of a contestant and pay no attention because they’re so busy thinking about what they, the host, will say next.

“If you ask a question or make a remark and listen, often that contestant will provide you with a little gem you can work with.”
