Ree Drummond has a winning formula with her cookbooks and Food Network show — developing simple and satisfying recipes that are often ready in under 30 minutes. There is one thing The Pioneer Woman star said she would change about her cooking, however.

Ree Drummond reveals the 1 thing she would change about her cooking style

During a 2017 Q&A book signing session for her cookbook, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Come and Get It, Drummond answered a fan question about whether she would change anything about the way she cooks. The Pioneer Woman star revealed she wishes she was a little bit neater while cooking.

“If I could change one thing about my cooking … I tell you what I would do. I would be neater as I cooked,” Drummond explained. “When I cook I tend to kind of just go crazy and spread out and I don’t pay too much attention to picking up as I go along. That can be a little overwhelming at the end of a lot of cooking.”

“You know, I’m trying to get better but I’m two years away from being 50 so I wonder when I’m going to turn over a new leaf,” she added. “I’ll keep you posted.”

‘The Pioneer Woman’ star shared a glimpse at her messy home

In a 2011 Instagram post captioned, “I want my mommy,” Drummond showed just how messy her kitchen can get. In the photo, the counter was piled with baking sheets, mixing bowls, pots, pans, and various ingredients. Fans loved getting this behind-the-scenes look at The Pioneer Woman star’s life.

In a 2011 blog post on The Pioneer Woman website, titled “Waiting for Superwoman,” Drummond shared that she’s often asked, “How do you do it all?” and explained, “My answer is always the same — uhh… I don’t.”

She pointed out how her adoring fans “only see the things I do accomplish,” including recipes, blog posts, and photos. Drummond also shared “what you don’t see” and was totally transparent and real.

“What you do not see are the stacks of books and loose papers on the kitchen counter. My messy, unforgivable closet,” she wrote. “The leaves I still haven’t dug out of the flower bed in front of our house because I don’t feel like it. The flu I had a few weeks ago that knocked me flat. The tiny cavity I ignored for — OK, fine — a year and had to get fixed last week. The novocaine just wore off. I can speak again! Hallelujah!”

She continued, “You don’t see the things I forget to do. The emails I can’t answer. The calls I forget to make. The garden I’m still trying to plan before it gets warm… And you don’t see the laundry.”

Drummond shared that their home ‘is always chaotic’ but she’s fine with it

Drummond admitted that she had a “tragic laundry situation” and had to hire someone to help her. She noted, “I also have a cleaning crew that comes one morning a week to give the house a deep cleaning, which means we have one day a week where the house sparkles … instead of zero.”

The Pioneer Woman star added, “Basically, our household is like any other homeschooling household: everyone’s always home, the house is always lived in, and everything is always chaotic. Throw in all the meals, the cooking, the cleanup, and the ranching/mud/manure element, and it makes for a grody, untenable domestic scene, man.”

“I wouldn’t trade it for the world,” she concluded.
