Rebekah Vardy has been gripped by fear as wildfires creep steadily closer to the £8 million Portugal villa she and her family have been holidaying in.
The 40 year old WAG has been enjoying a well earned break in the sun soaked country with her five children since Rebekah’s recent libel trial against Coleen Rooney, with both sides currently awaiting a verdict.
However the idyllic getaway has been placed under threat as wildfires continue to rip through parts of Portugal as a result of the excessive heatwave currently gripping Europe.
According to a report by The Sun, the fires have already reached a neighbouring golf course just meters away from the property, with raging flames spotted from the villa’s balcony, leaving Rebekah “terrified”.
Last night a source said of the Vardys: “It’s been horrifying. Their neighbours have all been evacuated and one by one residents are being told to leave their homes.
“Becky can see smoke everywhere and she’s terrified about the kids breathing it in. The water is also down so she’s relying on bottled water which, obviously, there is only a finite amount of at home.”
The situation has also been compounded by the fact husband Jamie, 35, is back home in the UK where he’s been training with his Leicester City teammates.
The insider added: "Jamie and their friends and family back home have all been really worried. Things are developing by the hour but she’s praying the fire brigades, who have been brilliant, can get things back under control."
In recent days, temperatures in the capital Lisbon have reached upwards of 43 degrees, while a drought in more rural parts of the country has lead to mass evacuations as the dry vegetation’s rapidly turned into kindling.
Despite the frightening ordeal, Rebekah has remained positive as she awaits evacuation and even penned a post on social media to thank the fire service for their tireless efforts in battling the brutal blazes.
Writing in Portuguese on her Instagram story, Rebekah wrote: "Waking up very grateful that they work tirelessly risking their lives to save ours. Thanks. Thought of everyone. Very scary”.
Following it up with another post a short time later, she also shared a video of a helicopter flying above her and added: "these guys are incredible".
