In case you missed it, things have taken a slightly awkward turn for Selena Gomez and her close friend Francia Raisa. And it all started when E! News posted a quote on their Instagram from Sel saying “I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities. My only friend in the industry really is Taylor.”

Cut to Francia hitting the comments on this ^ with a simple “Interesting.” Said comment has since been deleted, but fans interpreted it as Francia not being thrilled about Selena saying that her only industry “friend” is Taylor—especially since, you know, Francia donated her kidney to Selena.

And now (on top of Francia seemingly unfollowing Selena on Instagram as a result of her comment) Sel has spoken out. TikToker @stephwithdadeets posted an explainer about all this over the weekend, and Selena fully jumped into the comments with a pointed “Sorry I didn’t mention every person I know.”

Selena and Francia have been close friends forever, and in 2017 Francia donated her kidney to Selena, which she revealed on Instagram saying “There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed.”

Francia spoke about the decision to donate her kidney to W Magazine, saying “[Selena] was asking me about my day and she grabbed a water bottle out of the fridge and tried to open it and couldn’t. Then she threw it on the floor, and she fell to the floor and started crying. I was like, ‘What is wrong with you?’ She said, ‘I need a new kidney. I don’t know what I’m going to do, the waitlist is seven to 10 years.’ And it just came out of me, and I said, ‘I’ll get tested.’ I called her assistant behind her back to get the information, and that’s how the process started.”

FYI that these two were hanging together as recently as July, when Selena posted the below TikTok, so they were close until very recently!
